These are just a small jumping off point for a discussion about the rights of Adoptees and their families (both biological and adoptive) to open access to records. What are your thoughts on the issue?
Here is a recent news article about access to adoption histories: Pitt conference explores adoption options. October 7, 2007 From the article: "A key issue for adoptees is gaining access to birth records, Novy said. In Pennsylvania, birth records were closed in 1984. Attempts to convince the Legislature to change that law haven't been successful.
"Historically and psychologically, it can be shown that people benefit by having their records open to them," Novy said. A few states have such open records laws."
